SpamFighter works a little different to most of the other anti-spam applications. Most applications require you to setup filters and rules.
There is a community of about 562,731 people which increases everyday. Every time someone receives an email that is spam, they report it back to SpamFighter. This automatically means that you and thousands of other people will always be blocked from that specific email.
Besides that feature, a lot of Spam is also filtered out before it hits anyone in the community.
