AVG FREE edition is just as good as any commercial anti virus software. It's resident shield will ensure that you never run an infected file on your pc. It also contains an email scanner that will check all incoming and outgoing emails.
AVG Scans for Boot, Executable as well as Macro virus's. AVG's virus database is updated almost daily ensuring you are always protected from even the latest virus's.
The scheduler will allow you to set the times of when AVG must update itself and perform a full system scan.
